Logo German Simulation And Gaming Award 2011

With the presentation of the award on 20 September 2011 on the PLE-Conference / HRE Expo the competition year of the German Simulation And Gaming Award 2011 ended. In this second competition year there were four awardees out of 15 theses that took part.

The high variety of topics and academic disciplins of the theses show again the complexity and diversity of research all around S&G.

Awardees 2011: Geertje Bekebrede, Christian Fischer, Steven Kawalle, Jasmin Kaiser Titel

The first prize of final student theses goes to Jasmin Kaiser for her Master-thesis at the University of Bamberg. It concerns the question of transferring knowledge in further trainings for teachers dealing with simulation games.
 
Christian Fischer who received the second prize conceptioned and evaluated a simulation game to simulate the system of a a centrally planned economy system.
 
Steven Kawalle received the third prize for his magister thesis, in which he tried to review the theses of John Mearsheimer's neorealistic theory of international relations with a self-developed simulation game.
 
The special award for dissertations goes this year - as in 2010 – to the Netherlands. Dr. Geertje Bekebrede of the Delft University of Technology persuaded the jury with her dissertation „Experiencing Complexity – A gaming approach for understanding infrastructure systems”.
 
The four awardees 2011 received their prize packages in Cologne and introduced the audience some innovative ideas of their work in short presentations.
