Track 3 / Workshop 3

Planning with Games and VR: The MSP Challenge simulation platform

The MSP Challenge simulation platform helps planners and stakeholders understand and manage the complexity of Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP). In the interactive simulation, country planners around a sea basin (North Sea, Baltic Sea, etc.) develop plans for future uses of sea space, over a period of several decades. Digital game technology (Unity) links real geo- and maritime data with simulations for shipping, energy and ecology. The simulation platform is used globally for game-based learning, stakeholder engagement and interactive planning.
