Global Simulation & Gaming Award

In 2025, the annual ISAGA conference will be hosted in Germany, Stuttgart. As part of the conference we offer an award for final theses and dissertations in the field of simulation and gaming: The Global Simulation & Gaming Award.
With the Global Simulation & Gaming Award, we award outstanding final theses (e.g. bachelor, master) on issues dealing with simulation games. In addition, a prize is awarded for outstanding dissertations.
Our aim is to promote general access to mainly unpublished work regarding this topic, thereby contributing to the further development of simulation and gaming. The Global S&G Award is presented by the Centre for Management Simulation at DHBW Stuttgart in cooperation with ISAGA.
Award Ceremony 2025
As part of the international ISAGA 2025 conference, the ZMS, together with ISAGA and SAGSAGA, presented the international version of the established German Simulation Game Award - the Global Simulation and Gaming Award - for the first time. This award honors innovative ideas of young scientists from all over the world in simulation game research and development. During the ceremony, the three winners received their prize packages from the interdisciplinary and international jury of experts. In addition to the prize money, this also includes a publication and free membership of ISAGA and SAGSAGA.
An overview of the prize winners:
First place final theses: Sara Zumhasch from the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences for her master's thesis “The effects of self-disclosure in modern board games among colleagues”.
Second place final theses: Manuel Szecsenyi from HSLU Lucerne and UAS Technikum Wien for his master's thesis “Gamified financial education application for young adults”.
Special prize for dissertations: Amélie Monfort from La Rochelle Université for her dissertation on „Social reception of coastal flooding risk management strategies: a participatory simulation evaluation approach applied to metropolitan French coastlines“.
A total of 10 student theses and 10 dissertations were submitted from a wide range of disciplines. This diversity has been a hallmark of the German Simulation Game Award for years and is also reflected in the international version.
Congratulations to the award winners and many thanks to all applicants and supporters of the Global Simulation & Gaming Award 2025.
