The Award

The Global Simulation & Gaming Award is a "spin off" of Deutscher Planspielpreis (German Simulation and Gaming Award) that is awarded every two years since 2010. Hosting the ISAGA 2025 conference in Stuttgart, ZMS together with ISAGA decided to launch a global competition with an award cermony at the ISAGA conference in July 2025 in Stuttgart.

Every year, many interesting subjects are developed in academic final theses – including various aspects in the field of Simulation & Gaming. Unfortunately, many of these theses are never published and appreciated, with the generated knowledge remaining hidden.

The Global Simulation & Gaming Award offers a presentational platform for young academics and highlights the relevance of the topic.

The award acknowledges and honours outstanding academic theses within the broad spectrum of Simulation and Gaming. The theses must contribute to the further development of theoretical and/or practical components in the field. Up to three prizes will be awarded for final theses (e.g. bachelor/master) and a special prize will be awarded for dissertations.
